Study Rooms (University Park)

Go to 25Live Reservation System

The Library Study Room policy can be reviewed at Montague Law Library Policies and Guidelines. Library Study Rooms are scheduled through 25Live, the official Penn State scheduling system. Please review access and reservation information below for LAW and SIA students. Reservations made in 25Live are publicly viewable and not private.  For questions regarding access please contact PSDL IT.


LAW STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITY PARK - LOGGING IN FOR THE FIRST TIME

  1. LOG INTO 25LIVE 
  2. There is a one business day waiting period for your account to update.  After that time you will be able to view the "DL Katz Group Study Rooms."

SIA STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITY PARK - LOGGING IN FOR THE FIRST TIME. 

  1. LOG INTO 25LIVE 
  2. CONTACT PSDL IT to update your 25Live PSU account.
  3. Once you have received confirmation that your account has been properly updated, proceed with the instructions below.  If IT has not updated your account you will not able to view the rooms in the Katz building/Library study rooms. 

Instructions 

Logging in to 25live and viewing the "DL Katz Group Study Rooms"

  1. Log on to 25live
  2. From the dashboard click More on the top right of the page.
  3. Click Availability from the drop down menu.
  4. Location should default to DL Katz Group Study.  Daily availability for rooms 209, 210, 211, 212, 215, 216, 313, and 317 will display.

Notes: The library has 7 study rooms that are ideal for collaborative group study, and 216 that is ideal for 1-2 student use. The library study room names default to a name that is a series of numbers, the last three are the room number in the library.  To change this setting, click Options and move the Location Display Name from Name to Formal Name.  This will change the display of the room to UP: Katz Bldg (Room Number) Library Group Study.


Creating a Reservation/ 25Live Event

  1. From the Availability viewing option choose your room and time to begin the reservation.
  2. An Express Scheduling box will appear defaulting to the room location that was selected.  The duration defaults to 30 minutes.  Edit the timeframe by clicking the time.
  3. Create an event name.  Use a generic name like study time, group study, etc.  Do not use a personal name for an event.
  4. Click save.
  5. A confirmation page will appear. At the time the reservation will display as confirmed and include the reservation details including date and time and room number.  The room number defaults to the system name, please reference the last three numbers for the room.

Notes: Reservations are called "Events" in 25live.  If you do not receive a confirmation email please CONTACT PSDL IT


How to Cancel a Reservation/ 25Live Event

  1. Locate your event in 25Live using the "Reviewing Your Reservation (25Live Events)" instructions.
  2. From the event page click on "Confirmed" next to Edit Event.  Change the status from Confirmed to Cancelled.
  3. A box will appear asking to confirm the cancellation.  Click Yes to cancel the reservation/event.
  4. If you have difficulty cancelling your reservation, please contact PSDL IT for assistance. 

 

Open Seating

With the exception of the Library Study Rooms, seating throughout the library is available on a first-come first-served basis.  

  • Study carrels along the ramp
  • Reading Room
  • 3rd Floor desk
  • Soft seating "arm chairs" throughout the library.

Quiet Study Space

The Reading Room is reserved for quiet reading and research, so please do not hold conversations or do group work in this space. Similarly, conversations disrupt others' expectations of quiet study and research space. Conduct phone calls outside the library.


Securing Valuables

It is your responsibility to secure your personal items and valuables while working in the library.  Personal or other items should not be left unattended for long periods "hold a seat."  We will not watch items for you.
